A "Brief" Newsflash On Apple on the Eve of Labor Day W-End in the United States

The World is "abuzz" about what Apple will be doing on September 9.   As what Business Insider noted below recently, it could be a blockbuster just on the iPhone as apparently an iWatch is finally going to be introduced.    It will be fascinating to be witness to.

Happy Labor Day Week-End!!

The iPhone has consistently topped itself each year, posting record-breaking sales weekends for each of the past
four major launches. As for this year, which should see Apple debut at least one new large-screened iPhone,
RBC Capital Markets analyst Amit Daryanani says (via Electronista) Apple could easily sell 10 million
iPhone 6 units in its debut weekend alone.

View of the Week : On How to "Achieve" A Vision of the Possible

For this Edition of the "View of the Week" here in the "Vision" Channel , I chose two very timely ideas from the team @ Simple Truths.

PIcasso reminded us with this admonition about to go for the impossible--which is what at times I think "Outsiders" is.

“I am always doing things I cant do,
that
s how I get to do them.
Pablo Picasso

However, owning our dreams is a necessity to achieve the "Vision of the Possible".   John Maxwell noted this in this snapshot that is ever so poignant and a key question that all of us must answer :-)

Own Your Dreams
Discovering Your Purpose in Life
by John C. Maxwell

One of my favorite quotes is…

“It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” ~ George Eliot

Just think about that for a moment. Ray Kroc started McDonald’s when he was 52. KFC was launched when Colonel Sanders was in his 60s. And just the other day, I read where a grandmother with 41 grandchildren graduated from college. How old was she? She was 101…the oldest person in history to receive a college degree. She said it was her dream to become a college graduate and she made it come true!

Our happiness in many ways ties directly to our “inner voice” that forever asks the question… “Are you moving toward your dream?” If your answer is “yes,” then hope breeds contentment. However, if the answer is “no, it’s too late,” despair may fester within your subconscious. You might not even realize why your life lacks joy.

We’re very honored that best-selling author, John Maxwell, has written a book for us titled,Own Your Dreams…Discovering Your Purpose in Life. John is one of the best writers I’ve ever known and his work is appreciated around the world. In fact, his books have sold more than 20 million copies.

Here’s a brief excerpt from Own Your Dreams that I thought you might enjoy. John takes a look at how differently people approach achieving their dreams. In fact, he compares what he calls the Fantasizers to the Dream Builders. And you may want to ask yourself…
which am I?
Fantasizers…
Rely on luck.
Focus on the destination.
Cultivate unhealthy expectations.
Minimize the value of work.
Look for excuses.
Create inertia.
Breed isolation.
Wait.
Avoid personal risks.

Dream Builders…
Rely on discipline.
Focus on the journey.
Cultivate healthy discontent.
Maximize the work they do.
Lead to action.
Generate momentum.
Promote teamwork.
Initiate.
Embrace risk as necessary.

View of the Week: On Being UnPlugged While Watching #Amazon & #Apple

Twitch is the talk of the Internet today as Amazon paid 970 Million to buy it.   It all started with $ 50,000 of seed money from an incubator--not a bad return!!

I have checked it out--but as a "Non-Gamer", I have not been a fan.   I actually am "on it" right now to get a sense of the latest on it.  What is clear is not the content per se--but the technology that Amazon has paid that it would incorporate into its' Amazon FireTV .     This is part of a simple strategy:  To do everything and be everywhere.   So far, it seems to be making the inroads while not hardly making any money.    Whomever has bet against Amazon, though, has done so at their peril.

But, this is part of the overall trend that we're seeing in that we're "never unplugging".       It is kind of scary & intimidating in a way--but it is the reality today as reported by the Business Insider recently:

This is as the World continues to move along at a brisk pace.    As these recent headlines from the Business Insider (A Bezos Venture investment :-))  Some of the old-line players are having to still figure out what they stands for and how they continue to be under assault:

Out of these four "headlines", the one that was striking to me was the decline of the iPad business.  As I visited a local Apple Store recently, it was striking how the iphone, the ipod & the iMAC areas were quite crowded--but the iPad was not as much.     There are  It will be quite interesting to see what Apple will pull off out of its' bag of tricks as it gears up for its' September 9 launch.   Rumors have been aplenty--the question is what will actually be revealed.
