View of the Week: On the Role of Religion in the World.....

One of the required "readings" I review weekly is what is available on http://Ted.Com. For this week's "View of the week" here, I decided to release this on Religion that is quite compelling especially as our World is changing. On the one hand, we have the divide in Iraq & Syria which is threatening the "Near East" also known as the "Middle East"--yet, we have another transformational figure in the person of Pope Francis who has done more to transform faith in one year of his reign as Pope. Compelling to reflect:

On Challenges in Life On This Father's Day W-End

All in life go through challenges and setbacks.    One can either rise up from the failure and begin anew or one ought to give up.    As I was reflecting upon this on this Father's Day Week-End, this admonition from Pastor Rick Warren was ever so on point:

We can rise to be better to achieve our Personal "Vision of the Possible".

A "Vision" Newsflash: Amazon Strikes again :-)

Just seeing reports via Tech Crunch that Amazon will be launching a Music Streaming Service, as if iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, etc. etc. was not enough:

4. Amazon is planning a new marketplace for local services like plumbers, painters, and babysitters. If you've ever tried to hire people to do work on your house, you know how valuable a good solution could be.

A "Thought 4 the Week" On The Dawn of a New Work Week....

On the "Evolution" In Tech: The Reality On the Ground Right Now.....

Part of the evolution of a "vision is to realize what is here and now what is before us.   The evolution of Tablets (and ipad's) is this revolution that has occured now (both charts courtesy of the Business Insider):

We all know PCs as those ubiquitous devices that first invaded the workplace and then our homes. They still dominate offices today. Tablets like the best-selling iPad from Apple feel more additive to the computer environment, and they have found a strong niche as a coffee-table or leisure time device.

But this chart from Kleiner Perkins partner Mary Meeker argues that tablets have already, by one measure, surpassed the sales numbers of both PCs and laptop-style notebook computers. More tablet units are shipped per quarter and sales growth for tablets is sharper than it ever was for PCs or laptops. 

This is as one of the stalwarts of the last 20 years is being left in the dust:

Back in the prehistoric era — 2008 — Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser roamed the web like a diplodocus, eating everything in its path. As many as 90% of users saw the internet via Explorer.

Today, Explorer can't even command a simple majority of users. Google's Chrome browser is now the most popular web viewer, with 31.8% of the market. On mobile devices, probably the most important arena for browsers right now due to its growth, Explorer barely exists: only 1.8% of users see the mobile web via Explorer.

Explorer appears to be trapped on desktop, where it still holds a plurality, 43.3% to Chrome's 30.6%. Our data came from Adobe. Chart via Statista. 


The challenge is for the traditional players to figure out how to adapt.

On Our Children: A "Mid Week" View of the Week.....
