Notations For the Week-End: Solar Impluse Makes History

As America celebrated Independence Day, the World also had a glimpse of what true independence can be.    Our team has periodically commented on the adventures of the Solar Impulse as it traveled around the World.     What they achieved was truly in line with living up to the "Vision of the Possible" as we reviewed this received at our Virtual Studios and caught the latest coverage with the beautiful picture of the plane:

RECORD-BREAKING SOLAR FLIGHT REACHES HAWAII AFTER 5 NIGHTS AND DAYS AIRBORNE WITHOUT FUEL“I feel exhilarated by this extraordinary journey. I have climbed the equivalent altitude of Mount Everest five times without much rest. The team at the Mission Control Center in Monaco (MCC) was my eyes and my ears… The MCC was battling to give me the possibility to rest and recover, but also maximizing the aircraft’s energy levels and sending me trajectories and flight strategies simulated by computer", said André Borschberg, "This success fully validates the vision that my partner Bertrand Piccard had after his round-the-world balloon flight to reach unlimited endurance in an airplane without fuel", he adds.

"What André has achieved is extraordinary from the perspective of a pilot. But furthermore, he has also led the technical team during the construction of this revolutionary prototype", said Bertrand Piccard, initiator of Solar Impulse and one of the pilots.

To catapult this idea to the next level, Solar Impulse initiated the Future Is Clean campaign, calling on supporters to add their voice to the message on www.futureisclean.org: a website serving as a petition to convince governments around the globe to implement the necessary clean technology solutions and help ensure that the United Nations’ upcoming Conference on Climate Change (COP21) is successful in renewing the Kyoto protocol this December in Paris.
Relive the landing
It is a magnificent image of the true "art of the possible".     For those who missed it, it is now available to be relived!!    They're on to Arizona--but this is now part of history--and fun to be witness to this evolution.   We @ the Daily Outsider are absolutely thrilled to add our name www.futureisclean.org campaign to help change the narrative on the future.

Notations On Our World: ON Eve of the #July4 Week-End.....

It is the July 4 Week-End in the United States.    As we went to press with the latest edition of our notations in our "ordinary faces" channel, we wanted to share this curation of thoughts from one of the required readings by our team from +Jonathan Huie which we hope is enjoyed as we go "dark" for this July 4 W-End on the beauty of nature and majesty of life that is to be embraced for all to blaze a path towards a "vision of the possible.

We will be back next week with our regular features and the "Friday Musical Interlude".

Happy Birthday America!!!

Thought 4 the Week

As the quarter comes to an end, we have been refleting upon the year and remembering the steep mountain before us at #Outsiders.   This very perceptive thought our team chose for this Quarter End  Thought was quite onpointe as our team is reminded to go "Onward":

When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it
~ Henry Ford

Notations On Our World: On Making a Difference & Other Thoughts

Part of the idea of creating a "Vision of the Possible" to be able to see "beyond the now" and be able to do what can be done as underscored here which was one of the daily "curations" done by one of our team's daily "must reads" from +Jonathan Huie :

One interesting development in this vain has been the Personal Genome Project (PGP) by Professor Church at Harvard available at http://www.personalgenomes.org/.     We look forward to sharing insights on it here in "Visions" Soon.

Notation For the Week-End: How One Simple Act Can Make a Difference

We ran across wonderful gesture by Johnson & Johnon Recently: http://www.donateaphoto.com

It was such a simple gesture--yet so beautiful.   One takes a pictures, uses the App to donate it to a designated cause.    One is able to donate an image a day--and we have been very privileged to do our part on a daily basis.    It is such simple acts that helps to create "A Vision of the Possible" in spite of all the challenges that ensues.

The Friday Musical Interlude: So Beautiful

Our team released a "View of the Week" Earlier in the Ordinary Faces Channel as we reflected upon a challenging World and as we listened to the riveting euology by the President of the United States.   During his euology, he reminded all on a resevoir of goodness that is ever so vital to ultimately create a "Vision of the Possible".

Our team had a struggle on this terrible day to choose the "Friday Musical Interlude".    We though Boney James' "So beautiful" brings a level of joy and reminds all of the beauty of life in the midst of the profound misery our World has been witness to:

Thought(s) For the Week: On Sharing Happiness

Our team, during the daily review, reflected upon the concept of Happiness as we deliberated the latest thoughts received courtesy of one of the must reads by our team, +Jonathan Huie as noted below.   It is the essence of creating the ultimate "Vision of the Possible as we strive to share and give back for the betterment of all......

We are not cisterns made for hoarding,
we are channels made for sharing.
- Billy Graham

The happiness of one's own heart alone
cannot satisfy the soul;
one must try to include,
as necessary to one's own happiness,
the happiness of others.
- Paramahansa Yogananda

It's about sharing.
You just give what you have to give
wherever you go,
and you let God handle the rest.
- Lindsay Wagner

The miracle is this: the more we share the more we have.
- Leonard Nimoy

You can't live a perfect day without doing something
for someone who will never be able to repay you.
- John Wooden

A bone to the dog is not charity.
Charity is the bone shared with the dog,
when you are just as hungry as the dog.
- Jack London

Notations On Our World (Special Edition): On the tragedy in #Charleston, South Carolina

Our team has been "virtually breathless" as it has been assessing the Political Scene in the United States over the ensuing weeks.   As we went to press with this latest edition of "Notations", though, we were monitoring reports out of South Carolina with an attack by a  gunman at the Emmanual AME Church in Charleston.

Known as "Mother Emmanuel", it is the oldest and largest African American Congregations in the South.    A news conference concluded within the past hour confirmed 9 victims including the Pastor of Mother Emmanuel, State Senator Rev. Pickney.

The Charleston Police Chief has noted that this is a hate crime and implored all to come together.   There was also one of the Elders of the Church noting that there will be a prayer vigil at 12:00 PM EST in Charleston.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the People of Charleston, the victims and their families at this trying hour.      Our team will observe a 24-Hour Moment of Silence throughout the #Outsider Properties in honor of the fallen and in solidarity with the people of Charleston.

Notations From the Grid (Special Edition): The Best Place to Work (Courtesy of Verne's Insight)

This is quite a story which we hope to expand on--This is one company that truly has embraced a sense of the "Vision of the Possible":

Worthy of Praise --
Is this the best place to work in the US? Arnie Malham, the colorful founder/CEO of CJ Advertising and the Better Book Club, has created a world class environment for their 180 employees including unlimited vacation time from the day you start work, paying people to read, fruit in every room, and two kinds of ice! Here's a link to a 3 minute news story that details these perks and more (seeing their offices and what is posted on the walls is worth the 3 minutes) which aired on Nashville's CBS affiliate.

Thoiught For the Week-End: Jimmy Carter Reflecting Upon Making a Diffierence.....

“I have one life and one chance to make it count for something.
My faith demands that I do whatever I can,
wherever I am, whenever I can,
for as long as I can with whatever I have
to try to make a difference.”~ Jimmy Carter

File:Jimmy Carter, photo portrait, 2000.jpg | From The Carter CenterJames Earl “Jimmy” Carter, Jr. (October 1, 1924) was an American politician who served as the 39th President of the United States (1977–1981) and was the recipient of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, the only U.S. President to have received the Prize after leaving office. Notations On Our World: One Fascinating Country

Image result for e-estonia
One of the most fascinating countries we love to read about and understand is the Country of Estonia.    From our vantage point here @ #Outsiders, it is probaby the most digital native country in the World today.    We are getting to know this country and we look forward to sharing the profound advances she has made to show the World the way....Stay tuned!!!

Notations From the Grid: Four ways to include data journalism in bootstrapped newsrooms | IJNet

Our team is always on the prowl to assess how best to share thoughts & ideas.    As all have profound constraints on Budgets, these ideas noted in this courtesy of the team @ IJNET provides some interesting insights on how to insure a sense of crediblity without busting budgets--to strive to create the ultimate Vision of the Possible:

Notations On Our World: "Virtually Breathless" As #Apple is On the "Prowl"

We have been on the "Prowl" as we have been assessing what Apple has done with Apple Pay, Apple Music, Apple Watch, etc. etc. etc.    There is a lot to digest--although the major outlets have been busy assessing it as epitomized by what +Bloomberg TV 's excellent analysis on Bloomberg West noted, we wanted to share this courtesy of the +The Sydney Morning Herald which brings it all together.

We will be assessing it all over the ensuing days.    It was also of interest that the +Business Insider that we also consult here @ #Outsiders had an interesting article about how 4 Start-ups will be "toast" as Apple Rolled out some very interesting features as outlined below.    This is as Bloomberg had one of the very companies, Evernote, on quite excited about the new roll-outs and specifically the focus on "Payments"--the new frontier to be covered.

What is clear is this: there is never ever a dull moment in Tech.....

All the announcements from Apple WWDC

The details of everything coming soon to iOS, OS X, Apple Watch and the new cross-platform music streaming service.
