Notations From the Grid (W-End Edition): #RandomThoughts on Our World

The World continues to change faster ever more--epitomized by the two #RandomThoughts our team captured during our daily Social Media Engagements last week.  We look forward to the continued deliberative process on all the matters above.

As part of the commitment at hand to bring a multitude of views here throughout our properties, we hereby present the following for review:

Amazon Exposé: on Tuesday February 18, Frontline on PBS will air a two-hour documentary on Amazon: The Rise and Reign of Jeff Bezos - set your DVR now! How much have taxpayers fueled the retail-monopoly juggernaut?

Subsidy Spending UP: Christine Wen reports that, despite historically low unemployment, states and localities are spending more and more on corporate tax breaks the past three years. How can she tell? Because of our landmark victory, GASB Statement 77 on Tax Abatement Disclosures!

Subsidized Oscars: Kasia Tarczynska reveals that many of the films nominated for Academy Awards had gotten millions of dollars in "film production tax credits" from various states (we use air quotes because they are actually huge cash gifts).
